The Health and Safety Executive’s 2025 report shows a clear message: prevention still saves lives
Between April 2024 and March 2025, 138 workers were killed in Great Britain as a result of work-related accidents. The figures are consistent with previous years, showing that while safety culture is improving, the same risks continue to cause the most harm.
The leading causes of fatal injuries remain:
• Falls from height (44 deaths)
• Contact with moving vehicles (26 deaths)
• Struck by moving objects (21 deaths)
For the live events industry, these risks take on familiar forms:
• Crew working at height during rigging, lighting and construction
• Vehicle movement in public and back-of-house areas
• Poorly secured staging, structures, and equipment
Each of these hazards can be managed with proactive planning, clear communication, and strong control measures.
At Hybred, we apply the same principles across every event we support, ensuring:
• Safe systems of work are in place from day one
• Staff are briefed and trained to recognise risks
• Site layouts and vehicle routes are properly assessed
• Structures are verified and signed off before use
Every control measure matters. The work done before build day is what prevents tragedy on show day.
